They have played a pivotal role in the development of terrestrial life on the planet, provided untold billions of dollars in ecosystem services, and formed the backbone of numerous industries. Yet, we know little about this wonderful life form. Over the past decade, Peter\u2019s research has shown that Asia is an ideal place to study fungi, featuring many unknown species and unstudied landuse systems. Topics from Peter\u2019s talk will include the discovery of novel pathogens, fungi that can digest plastic, the domestication of edible mushrooms, and new species of deadly mushrooms.
