With human demands on land resources only increasing, the success of conservation hinges on lessening the negative impacts of land conversion and degradation, and importantly, seizing opportunities of land restoration. In this talk, I will present some thoughts on these two aspects from our research on the conservation of forest biodiversity, much of which is still in progress. This set of work includes mapping and field studies on the spatial pattern and biodiversity consequences of forest loss and degradation, and field studies on the conservation opportunities potentially offered by agricultural and forestry land abandonment.

Speaker: Assistant Prof. Fangyuan Hua

Affiliation: Peking University

Time: 4:30 PM, Tuesday, July 2, 2024

Venue: Offline: The Conference Hall in Xishuangbanna Headquarter
Online: Tencent Meeting ID：617-120-730
https://meeting.tencent.com/dm/Nhmct2ptrtwY

Speaker: Assistant Prof. Fangyuan Hua
Affiliation: Peking University
Time: 4:30 PM, Tuesday, July 2, 2024

[3
