Combining long-term field monitoring studies across multiple forest scales, this report summarizes the research progress over the past 20 years on the complex interactions between fruit-boring insects, dispersal-storage rodents, and fruit-eating birds with forest fruits (seeds), assesses the important role of animals in forest regeneration, and reveals the multi-scale interaction mechanisms between different animal groups (functional groups) and forest fruits (seeds).
