Alpine Plant Adaptation: From field observation to genomics

Abstract:

Alpine environment represents a challenging environment for both flora and fauna. Understanding how organisms have not only colonized such environment but also have adapted to it, could help to shape strategies that human can employ to help conserve organisms in face of climate change. In my talk, I will unravel diverse strategies used by plants to survive in alpine region. This talk will combine personal life long field observations with molecular analyses to understand plant adaptation with some insights into possible lessons that human can derive from these plants strategies. I will end my talk by highlighting future research directions and how field observation could help guiding next generation plants genomic research.
