Abstract:
In the context of the rapid loss of biodiversity, understanding the mechanisms underlie the relationship between plant diversity and diseases has both theoretical and practical significance. Focusing on the relationship between plant communities and foliar fungal diseases in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau alpine meadow ecosystems, I found the existence of the phylogenetic dilution effect, and proposed a new mechanism for the dilution effect in plant communities. Meanwhile, I have clarified how warming affects foliar fungal diseases directly rather than indirectly via plant communities, and detected contrasting effects of grazing on foliar fungal diseases with different life histories. In addition, I confirmed that foliar fungal pathogens may play a larger role in maintaining species coexistence and shaping community composition by generating conspecific negative density dependence.
