Abstract:
Yongfei Zhang holds a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from Nanjing University. He has accumulated rich research experience across multiple prestigious institutions, including the University of Texas at Austin, University of Washington Seattle, Princeton University/NOAA GFDL, and University of Maryland/NASA GMAO. His research interests cover earth‑system modeling, climate‑oriented data assimilation and machine learning, cryosphere science focusing on sea ice and land snow, as well as ecological impacts of climate change. He has served as project lead and key participant for multiple NOAA and NASA funded projects. Dr. Zhang has authored numerous peer‑reviewed articles published in high‑profile journals such as Science Advances, Geophysical Research Letters and Journal of Climate. Besides publications, he has delivered plenty of conference presentations and invited seminars, undertaken journal review work, and obtained several academic honors. He is proficient in supercomputing numerical simulation, multi‑language programming and large‑scale geoscience dataset processing.
