Development of Chassis Systems in Plant Synthetic Biology and Innovation of Functional Crop Germplasm

Abstract:

Zhu Qinlong, Ding Ying Scholar at South China Agricultural University, Guangdong Pearl River Scholar Distinguished Professor, and doctoral supervisor. His long-term research focuses on plant synthetic biology, gene editing, and crop germplasm innovation. He has developed an efficient multi-gene stacking system, a broad-targeted base editing system, and the first intelligent question-answering analysis system for plant functional genomics (PlantGPT). He achieved the first synthesis of anthocyanins and the advanced carotenoid astaxanthin in rice endosperm, creating multiple functional new germplasm resources for food crops. He has published over 60 SCI papers in international journals including Trends in Biotechnology, Molecular Plant, Advanced Science, Biotechnology Advances, Plant Biotechnology Journal, and Plant Physiology, with nearly 6,500 citations on Google Scholar and 12 cover articles/highly cited papers.
