Abstract:
Professor Wenwu Guo is a PhD supervisor at the College of Horticulture & Forestry Sciences, Huazhong Agricultural University. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, a Distinguished Professor under the Ministry of Education Talent Program, a National Leading Talent in Science and Technology Innovation, an Outstanding Agricultural Scientist, and a State Council Special Allowance Expert. He leads the Ministry of Education Innovation Team for Horticultural Plant Cell Engineering and Germplasm Innovation. His research focuses on citrus cell engineering and genetic improvement, addressing reproductive barriers such as nucellar embryony to boost breeding efficiency and develop seedless, high-quality, disease-resistant citrus varieties and rootstocks. He has led over 50 national and provincial key projects, won the Second Class Prize of National Science and Technology Progress and the First Class Prize of Hubei Technological Invention, published more than 100 papers including in PNAS, and serves as co-editor-in-chief or associate editor for several international horticultural journals.
