Abstract:
Alien species invasions is one of the top drivers of global biodiversity loss The impacts of invasive alien species are linked to the declining conservation status of around 25% of threatened species and are the leading cause associated with global extinctions since 1500CE. As established alien species is very difficult to be completely, understanding determinants of invasion success and preventing invasions at early stages is crucial to develop comprehensive management strategies. In this talk, focusing on terrestrial vertebrates especially the amphibians and reptiles which are among the most threatened vertebrate on Earth, I will discuss some of my previous studies on factors influencing invasion process along the ‘introduction-establishment-expansion’ continuum, which may be applied in predicting risks of alien species invasions by linking field work and macroecological models.
