Using big data to study global biodiversity change: the importance of field observations

Abstract:

Biodiversity databases are becoming more available and how to use online databases to explore the phenomenon we observed is becoming increasingly important in ecological research. Here, I will use several examples to show how to combine field observations, thoughts and ideas, based on large-datasets, to study large-scale biodiversity changes and inform practical conservation guidelines.
